After a leisurely breakfast and Derek had done a little cleaning at the NZMCA Park we were on our way across the Desert Road. It was a beautiful warm morning with brilliant sunshine.
The storm clouds gathering over the Central Plateau New Zealand at 1pm today.
The forecast was for storms over most of the North Island this afternoon and as we drove over the Desert Road we could see them approaching. We missed all the thunder and lightening that they received at Tongariro at the same time. After a short sharp downfall it was all over.
