Problem resolved.

8 Locks, 6 Miles 1 swing bridge. Now moored at Newbury.
512 locks, 619½ miles, 18 Tunnels, 29 swing bridges and 9 lift bridges since Nov 2006

We started earlier than usual this morning so that we could fill up both boats with water as water points are a bit scarce between Kintbury to Reading. As we passed through the first lock we found the Kennet Horse Drawn Boat being prepared for another 2 hour trip. A different horse was being used today.

Along the way we saw a deer with 2 fawns which we managed to photograph this time.
When we arrived in Newbury we moored by the park to start with while we had lunch and then checked out the moorings further down the river.

We did find moorings further down river close to where we had moored on the inward journey which will be quieter so we have moved opposite Greenham boat yard.
Derek/Kalimera has had a visit from an electrician who could not find anything wrong with the charging system but thought that the new alternator may be suspect. We had already come to this conclusion. As Derek still had the original alternator in the boat the electrician swapped them over to see if this made any difference? After an hour of engine running the charge rate is now stable, unlike what it had been and the batteries are in a better state.
