Bridge to No Where.

Still moored opposite Brownsover Park, Rugby

On our first visit to Rugby 8 months ago we found a pathway from Tesco's to the railway station. The only problem was the footbridge over the railway tracks was being re-built with a sign on it stating due to re-open Jan 2006, so it was 16 month's behind schedule.

This morning we walked down to the bridge to have a look as we could see the new double arched structure appeared finished. How wrong we were, the bridge has been finished but still has a gate across the entrance with a sign stating "closed May 2007 re-open Jan 2009". I know there is a lot of track work going on below the bridge but there was no obvious sign as to why the bridge should be closed unless the local yobs are throwing things down on the workers below. The restructuring of Rugby station and track work seem to be taking for ever.

From the top of the steps up to the bridge I took these photo's of what is left of Rugby's railway buildings.
