First Run Out.

29 Miles. Now at Hill Farm, Chesterton, Peterborough.

Just about the whole apartment seen from the front door.

Just about the whole apartment seen from the front door when we left.

The time had come for us to shed our vestiges of brick and mortar and hit the road. After a tearful farewell to the landlords Mother in Law who has loved having us next door just knowing she wasn’t alone, we finally got away about 12.15pm.

Our new home, the landlords house and our apartment.

Our new home, the landlords house and our apartment.

Despite strong blustery winds the motorhome handled well especially now it is loaded with all our worldly possessions, the last of which were loaded in a rather hurried fashion and unceremoniously dumped anywhere to be sorted later. Twenty nine miles later and we arrived at the Caravan Club Certified location of Mound Lodge, Hill Farm. We followed the sign posts to the designated paddock and found a suitable park. I contacted the site owner who said we could stay on the paddock or carry on up to the barn where there are hard standings for winter use.

Initially we opted to stay put and after lunch went for a walk to see what the hard standings were like. Tucked in between buildings and a large irrigation pond, the other site was actually quite sheltered and dark so we have remained on the paddock. The site is very reminiscent of many sites we have stayed at in our caravan travels around New Zealand. The camp has all the essentials of power, water, rubbish, black and grey water disposal and surprisingly a tank for waste oil. The latter was something that was lacking when we lived on the boat. As I serviced the boat myself regularly at 250 hours we were always looking for places to dispose of waste oil but they were few and far between.

We will see many of these over the next 4 months or so.

We will see many of these over the next 4 months or so.

We will now spend the next 2 days seeing how things work and perhaps re-organise the van from the way we first packed things away to a more logical system. Won’t we have fun!

The only one on site. The facilities off to the left.

All on our lonesome as we are the only one on site. The facilities off to the left.

A total of 115 miles, since 5 March 2011

Great to see you are on the move again, although a tad faster than the 3-4 mph that you are used to. Will be interested to see where you get to.

Hi Both
Just wanted to wish you all the best on your new adventure. We used quite a few of those CLs ourselves in an earlier life. Don't forget to check out North Yorkshire!
Cheers
