Today was the Day!

Our six months of being marooned landlubbers is about to come to an end. This morning our Landlord', Mick (bless his cotton socks,) took us by car to Cranham Motorhomes to finally collect our latest acquisition.

From the time we arrived it took just under 2 hours to complete the necessary paperwork and go through a basic introduction to how everything worked  before we were on the road back to March.

WowWow, its ours

I was well pleased with the way the Fiat handled having never had a 6 stage automatic gearbox before. Approximately a quarter of a tank of diesel had been put in the Fiat, so our first job was to call in at the local BP petrol station for another 50 litres just to see how accurate the fuel gauge is and give us some indication of consumption.

Ready for off alongside the M25Ready for off alongside the Southend Arterial Road.

Now back at our apartment we have started to check everything over and unfortunately we have found a couple of faults that should have been picked up at the factory or the dealers yard during pre-delivery checks. I can see an unplanned trip back to Cranham’s to have the faults rectified. GRRRRRR.

Home for how long?Home but for how long?

A total of 86 miles, since 5 March 2011

Looks great, you passed only a few miles from where we are on the boat, maybe catch up when you get the faults fixed. See you soon

Yes PDI's, those things that you have to pay a dealership to do when you get a new car. Joe had a new van where the horn didn't work and horn didn't work because a fuse had never been fitted so someone at the dealership had 'ticked a box and taken the money' but not done the checks!! Perhaps the dealership would like to fill your diesel tank in recompense for the inconvenience??
Anyway, enjoy your new baby and see as much in the next six months as you can!!

Hi Jill and Graham, Lesley and Joe, Pip and Roger. Thanks for your comments, its a matter of trial and error with teething problems and ignorance. :-)

That sure is a nice looking van. I think the wing mirrors are probably worth more than my old camper lol. Would be great to see some interior pics.
