The White Horse of Waimate

IMG_5467

After spotting this white horse overlooking our camp in Waimate, we had to go and see if we could view it up close. We took to the hills in Robins car and after climbing to the top of an unsealed road we found this sign.

Well we thought that’s not too bad so off we went. There was a well marked track and we headed off along the top of the hill.  On and on we trekked and started to wonder if we had overlooked another sign.  After about an hour or so we all decided to give up and head back from whence we had come. Then when we arrived back by the car Robin called out that he had found it, all within 100yards from the top but in the other direction.  Did we feel fools?  After such a good workout the completed horse up close was a real let down.  Never mind that was our exercise for the day.
