Wanaka

Leaving Lowburn we headed for Lake Hawea, calling in to Wanaka Airport on the way.

IMG_1247This Focke Wulf FW190 D9 is brand new and up for sale. Only flown on 10 test flights. Built overseas and assembled in Wanaka.

IMG_1249Tail plane built overseas and shipped here awaiting the fuselage completion.

IMG_1257The engine in this Yak was being run up to extremely high revs hence the chocks under the wheels. What a noise.

IMG_1262Something a bit simpler and certainly quieter.

Leaving the airport we called into Wanaka for a money machine. It didn't take us long to find one in the main street.  The town was absolutely full of tourists and no parks anywhere.  It was a beautiful day but we couldn’t get away soon enough for our next destination.
