Finally underway.

62.3 Miles. Now in Skegness.

Just before leaving March we heard that there had been a fire in an old cottage close to the Town Moorings. Walking up to town we found the Fire Brigade still in attendance damping down hot spots using water pumped from the river by one of their mobile pumps.

After finally getting our prescriptions sorted out and no further doctor’s appointments required for 6 month’s it was time to start our motorhome tour. Todays plan was too head up to Skegness and catch up with Polly and Terry who we met on the recent tour to the German Xmas Markets.

The mist that seems to be wide spread over the country was still present but of no consequence on our journey North. We excluded motorways on our Garmin satellite  navigation system which did take us on some “B” roads but nothing to cause concern. Originally we had planned to use a caravan club Certified Location but a discussion with another camper revealed that there are motorhome parks on the sea front at the south end of Skegness. We found these easy enough and opted to stay for a while to see how things go. If it doesn’t work out we will move to the CL site later. Driving along the seafront was like a trip back through time with all the boarding houses still operating where in other seaside resorts they are now few and far between.

Polly and Terry came to see us and stayed for a coffee and a chat and will return tomorrow to give us a guided tour of their home town. In the meantime I have been trying out the generator as we are out of earshot of the nearest boarding houses. Everything worked well but I ran out of petrol so I will have to get some more tomorrow.

A total of 399 miles, since 5 March 2011
