After a long day yesterday we were quite happy to have a more relaxed day today. Leaving Crossways camp we headed for Lyme Regis where we were lucky to find a new Park and Ride on the outskirts of town. For a mere £4 we could park as long as we liked and the driver came and picked us up at the time we requested. It’s a joint council/ private enterprise which when the season starts at Easter will run a scheduled service. The other council car parks charge by the hour so it was good value.

The movie The French Lieutenants  Woman was filmed here on the towns harbour. The harbour wall or Cobb as it’s known, dates back to the 1300’s where it was a wooden and boulder structure. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times to what you see today. Around the harbour you can find many hire boats that will take you out sightseeing up and down the coast or fishing for an hour or a day. For the intrepid wreck divers they can also hire a boat to take them out to one of many wrecks along this coastline.

It was good to see that here as well as other seaside resorts repairs and modernisation are taking place in an attempt to get British holiday makers to stay in the UK instead of heading off to Europe. As arranged we were picked up at 1500hrs and taken back to the car park to carry on with our journey.

Arriving at Little Seniors farm in Newton Poppleford we had to access the site along a narrow lane which luckily only went for a 150yds. Entering the site we found the place full and all the level sites occupied leaving only seriously sloping ground. We parked in the best spot available but even with levelling blocks we were still on quite a lean. However we knew at least one occupant would be leaving in the morning so it was only for one night.

Sorry but unfortunately with our limited time and the mileage we want to cover before flying out in August we are unable to see all that we would like to.
