In early Saxon times ie Offa Tamworth was the Capital of England.The castle is a shell keep style of castle and in the wall under that walk way is a fine example of herring boning.a gret place to visit especially if the sun is shining.

Just thought I would upload the said photo of the herringboning so others can see what you mean. King Ofa (of Ofa's Dyke) made Tamworth his home.
